| What If? What if you gave the same amount of time and effort to your spiritual walk with God as you do your education or employment? Do you think it would make a difference? The bible tells us that before the Lord returns the love of many would wax cold and that there would be a great falling away. This is happening right before our eyes and what is even worse, it can happen to us if we are not making the right choices every minute of every day. Look around you and you can see the degradation of morals and values. God is pushed further and further away. Many people today go as far as saying anyone who believes the bible is the inspired Word of God is a danger to society and a blemish on humanity. Many look on Christians as being weak minded fools who are simple and to stupid to think on their own and therefore use God as their crutch. Well, count me as one of them! I would rather be a simple weak minded fool who leans upon the Lord than a high minded intellectual who has no room for God. Look at how much time we spend to build earthly, temporal things and how little we spend to build spiritual eternal things. All man can do and be in this life is make a memory. The richest person on earth cannot buy their way into eternal life or even save their soul. Nor can the poorest person on earth say they do not have what it takes to find salvation. I challenge you this week to evaluate the amount of time you spend on temporal, earthly and carnal things verses the amount of time you spend in prayer, study and attendance to God's house. People spend huge amounts of money yearly to get a good education that will enable them to earn a better living. Others spend most of their time working to attain a certain level of wealth. Yet when the appointed time comes, and they face eternity, what will it have profited them? What will it give them then? Nothing! I do believe a good education is necessary, and a good job to support the family. But the most important thing is our soul and where we will spend eternity. The bible tells us of four abodes which are the Heavenly New Jerusalem coming down out of heaven. The new heavens and the new earth which these abodes will hold those who have given their hearts to the Lord Jesus Christ. There is one other abode that Death and Hell will be cast into as well as the Devil and his angels along with all who reject the Lord Jesus Christ and that is the Lake of Fire. I believe it would take very little to make major changes in our life-styles and to give a greater effort to ensuring our spiritual future is secure. The Lake of Fire is not a place I want to be or anyone that I know. Seek the Lord while He may be found! |
